'SYNESTHESIA' MAGAZINE
This university project required me to create a magazine based on a theme extrapolated from two prescribed articles which were to be typeset within the magazine.

The theme I chose and subsequently titled my magazine was ‘Synesthesia’. After reading and analysing the articles, I found I began to notice typography around the city more often and as I did, this altered my experience of wayfinding. Thus, I wanted to highlight this through using type on the cover pulled from a photographic archive I’d taken of my journey to and from university.
PROCESS
L-R: Experimentation with mark-making materials for hand-generated type. Planning layouts for magazine spreads with sketching and annotating. Manipulated type by hand and then manipulated in Photoshop. Analysing and checking typesetting against grid structure.
I wanted to create a contrast between hand-generated type and blocks of perfectly justified type through my spreads. Typesetting the articles in this way was time-consuming but rewarding as I wanted to challenge myself.

I also created an Eye Jack artwork from the cover, making use of virtual reality and kinetic type.
